We had a fantastic adventure in Uvita. Jason and Victoria are wonderful hosts ensuring that we were well looked after and were always available to answer our questions, give recommendations on restaurants and even book our dinners and excursions. It is a perfect place for a group of people who want to spend time together but wish for privacy as all 3 bedrooms are completely separate with their own bathrooms. We truly had a wonderful holiday and highly recommend this property for those looking for a true adventure in this beautiful country

What a great time..! First time out of the country and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Jason & Victoria Hughes are wonderful host. Everything we needed to have a relaxing week was provide for us. From little household items to planing waterfall trips. Their knowledge of the area and good nature attitude make this property perfect. The drive from the airport down the coast to the property is well worth it. Monkeys early in the morning or a walk up the hill to the neighborhood hotel bar for sunsets this is a special place. We will be back for sure..

The listing description is amazing, but doesn't really do justice to this incredible property and its owners. The property was easy to find and very secure. My husband and our 3 children (17, 14 and 10) stayed here at the end of our Thanksgiving trip to Costa Rica. There was enough room for us to each have our own space and yet feel close together. The property is stunning and very welcoming; thanks to the wonderful owners that had paid great attention to the details. There was delicious coffee from the local cafe, some cold drinks and the "everything you need to know" book awaiting our arrival. This book had all the info we needed about the property, town and adventure opportunities to be had in the area. The owners made themselves available to answer any questions we had and were a delight to visit with. We were here, purposefully, to consider a move to Uvita and just fell in love with it all. We were introduced to a fabulous school that Victoria and Jason had informed us about prior to our trip and enjoyed the opportunity to visit in person; our girls had the chance to see what a school in CR looks like. We spent Thanksgiving day zip-lining at the nearby Osa Canopy Tour. There are 9 cables, 11 platforms, 2 repelling stations, 2 suspension bridges, and a crazy "tarzan" swing that the girls really loved. Chris and his team were super fun and professional. What we loved in Uvita: the atmosphere and pizza at Pizzeria La Fogata, the owner of Scooby's (he shared his favorite places to see in Uvita with us), Playa Ventanas (practically had this beach to ourselves), hiking through the jungle behind this house and the unbelievably gorgeous sunsets and wildlife viewed from the lookout balcony. Early on our first morning at the house, I saw a pod of dolphins swim by in the ocean, 3 capuchin monkeys, a scarlet macaw and five toucans from where I sat. Mind blown and I didn't even have to leave the property!!! Our only disappointment was that we had not spent our whole research vacation there and that we had to leave. This is the only place we will stay when we return to Uvita! We would give it 10 stars if we could. Truly a little piece of Heaven on earth!!!

Can't describe how beautiful this place is. The view, the place, the vibes, it's magical. Close enough to stores and restaurants, simply amazing. The hosts were great, provided all the information needed, and even gave us some fruits and beverages when we got there. If you ever visit Costa Rica, this place is definitely a must. Don't lose your chance. Totally recommended.

Thank you so much for an amazing stay. The property is beautiful. Clean, spacious and relaxing. It is just the right distance from the main highway- not too far or too close and the road is nice. You will not regret booking a stay in any of the properties they offer. Very kind people and a great place to be.

Alquilamos la casa de 4 personas, la casa es justo como la esperabamos, sin embargo la atencion recibida por Victoria y Jason sobrepararon nuestras expectativas, ellos prepararon la casa para nosotros con fruta fresca, chocolates, y hasta cerveza fria en la nevera, ademas encontramos todo lo necesario para cocinar, y para que nuestra estancia fuera placentera.
La propiedad es hermosa, uno puede ver muchas aves, congos y monos carablanca que llegan a alimentarse de los diferentes arboles.
Uvita nos encanta, esta familia tambien lo asesora sobre las opcines de tours y le ayudan a pactarlo, Uvita tiene muchas playas y cataratas hermosas, y es un destino ideal para el avistamiento de ballenas. Super recomendado el hospedaje y el destino

This rental was truly a hidden gem. The view itself, watching the sunset was spectacular!! I arrived with family ranging from 5 you to 69 yoa and everyone in a our party raved on the beautiful home that has been obviously been built to impress. Although we were in Costa Rica on vacation to enjoy the beaches, we found ourselves hurrying back to enjoy the home. More than enough room for 7 people, the pool and deck area are impressive, and the friendly owner was helpful with not only information about his home, but with things to do in the area. When we return to Costa Rica we will absolutely make a special visit back to Uvita for this awesome house!!

This place is beautiful. First visit to CR. It was a struggle for us to get here from San Jose ~ the driving is SO different from the US. No addresses? No street signs? Great place for our 1st few nights. Any issues were quickly handled. The infinity pool is spectacular!  We walked the trail on the property and it was awesome. We did the ATV ~ lots of fun! Ladies, wear a sports bra :) Also, walking the Whales Tail at low tide was a highlight of our trip

First, I love this area of Costa Rica and it was made even better by staying here. The villas were perfectly laid out to provide privacy and yet common areas for your group. The beds were very comfortable as well. The addition of the pool makes this the ideal place to stay. It is just the right size for getting in and cooling off. We spent part of an afternoon just hanging out by the pool and enjoying the surroundings. The afternoon we did that we saw whales playing in the ocean, one with the giant tail coming up out of the water as we watched. And the monkeys swung through the trees each morning above us. Jason and Victoria were readily available if you needed anything, restaurant reservations, suggestions on beaches or other things to do. It was perfect really to totally be left alone, but yet if you needed anything at all they were easily accessible and so enjoyable to visit with. If coming with a small group, this is the place for you!

This place is awesome. This was the second time I stayed here, and definitively I'll come back! Bedrooms are very comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped....you can feel at home.

My colleague and I rented this three bed, three bath villa with a gorgeous pool up on the hillside above Unita, Costa Rica. We planned to be there for a week's worth of business, and this seemed a better fit for us than one of the hotels in the area. We were very happy. The beds were very comfortable. The villa has great views. There are birds all around because of the neighboring forest, and the property manager was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely a property we would return to! And, it also had a washer and dryer on site which made going home with clean clothes a nice added bonus.

I have been going to Costa Rica for 10 years and we always like to discover new places. This time we took my daughter and her 3 HS friends. It was 7 of us in total. This property is super beautiful and the all the room are very clean. I love the decoration of the house. Victoria was very nice and helpful. My favorite was the outdoor kitchen. I love to cook and the view from the kitchen was amazing. We will for sure go back to this place in the future.

What a wonderful vacation we had at the Garden villa ! The villa is situated in a very accessible hill with incredible view of the pacific ocean ! Jason and Victoria were very welcoming and helped us on every step of our family trip . Our kids ( 11 and 7 ) enjoyed a lot the pool, the view and the Howler monkeys living in the trees near the pool ! The villa is very cozy, you would have everything that you need and we love to have fruits at our arrival ! We visited several national park around the area but the wildlife is right there on the natural trail at the villa and we enjoyed to explore and observe their habitat. The beautiful Uvita beach is at 5 min from the house with lifeguard on duty and very warm water, we love it ! Uvita is a wonderful, natural safe town for everyone and very well located to visit Dominical, Manuel Antonio, even the south part of Costa Rica. Many thanks Victoria and Jason for sharing a piece of your paradise with us , we won't forget it , it was such an amazing experience for all of us. We hope to come back to enjoy it again ! Property as described in the add. Very clean and well maintained. Beautiful setting. Quite and secure. Close to amenities of all kinds. High standard customer service: both Victoria and Jason have been very helpful during our stay and prior to our arrival. We stayed for 6 days and really had a good time: we and the children loved it. Jason and Victoria Hughes are two of the most amazing people you will ever meet. It was a pleasure to rent their house... Our 11 y/o son had a lot of fun playing with there 2 children which was very convenient for us. Our trip to Costa Rica was so delightful primarily do to their hospitality. Their estate is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Jason has one of the largest botanical specimens in the country displayed on their natural trail through their property, where you can see sloths, monkeys and Iguanas. The house we rented was awesome, full kitchen, beautiful layout and the pool was incredible, also full maid service daily. Victoria will schedule all of your activities that you want to do and accommodate you in any way possible. When one place was booked up she had a back up to participate in the same type of activity but with a alternate company, which was awesome. We will defiantly be back and this will become a regular vacation spot for us. My family loved this place.

Beautiful property with all of the amenities you could ask for. The design & layout of the property sets the tone for relaxation and an atmosphere for enjoying family time. It is also great for multiple couples traveling together as each of the bedrooms provides complete privacy. The owners have thought of everything when it comes to this home. We felt right at home & enjoyed getting advice from Jason about excursions & dining. Everything was perfect!

We actually stayed in another part of the property, called Villas Licuala. This is a 3 bedroom (all separate with their own bathrooms) with fully equipped (outdoor!) kitchen and lovely, spacious outdoor living spaces. The owners have two other homes on the property, which includes their home and the 2 bed, 2 bath rental, Casa Caribaea.

Our stay at Villas Licuala was fabulous. Jason has amazing gardens with a vast collection of palms, some very rare. Have him take you on a tour, as it is extremely interesting, even if you are not a botanist. (If you are a botanist, you really must see it!) The property has a dipping pool with a beautiful view (the whole property has a great view) with fountains and lighting to create an even more impressive atmosphere. This property would be great for family or groups of friends, as all 3 bedrooms are very separate and private from each other.

We had 2 toucans in the trees every morning, howler monkeys and even a baby sloth in a tree in the restaurant up the street! Also lot's to do in the area; Victoria will set you up with if you need reservations for tours, etc

I recently traveled to Costa Rica and stayed in in a beautifully renovated villa that is nestled nearly right in the jungle. Beautiful ocean views could be seen from the comfort of the pool and natural sounds of the jungle could be heard as well. If you are looking for a peaceful place to rest while being surrounded by the beauty of Costa Rica then this property has many places to make you happy to to stay. If you are interested in a nature walk, the grounds have a pathway that naturally passes into the jungle and back to your vacation home. Many of the wildlife creatures come close enough to get great photos of from the path. Take pictures with tropical monkeys and birds flying overhead. Jason and his wife Victoria were very accommodating and provided me with good cuisine ideas, and other local finds. Victoria helped me with booking some of my excursions. They were very pleasant and made for a nice relaxing fun filled vacation. This was a find that you have to see for yourself to believe.

I want to say something negative so no one can ever take it away from me - but it is just too incredible to do so and I would feel guilty for keeping others from experiencing their warm, exquisite and accommodating residence. The villa - superb. The grounds - exquisite. The pool and surrounding area - like a set in a movie. The creek running through the property and birds and monkeys - made me giddy like I a 13 year old. BUT, the hospitality of Victoria and Jason - that is truly what made me decide that Costa Rica would be my long term home. If you want to feel special, stay in THE most beautiful place, be close to everything that matters and truly feel the beauty of Costa Rica - then this is THE only place to stay. And on that note - Thank you Victoria, Jason and the boys for making this week the most wonderful and fulfilling one that I have ever experienced!!!! PURA VIDA - and jealousy towards all others that get to experience your beautiful home!!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this Uvita guest house during our first trip to Costa Rica. The Hughes are welcoming and helpful hosts; they seem truly to enjoy sharing their property with their guests and helping their guests have an enjoyable visit to Uvita. Surrounded by natural beauty and wildlife with an awesome sunset view, this property offers so much of 'Costa Rica' all in one place. Flora, fauna, wildlife, birds, and amazing butterflies. Plus the howler monkeys who gave us a rousing goodbye the morning of our last day regularly pass through. A few tips -- the drive up to the property is very steep but the road becomes concrete as you get closer to the property which helps; the view of the Uvita whale's tail at the top of the road is awesome, so don't miss it; be sure to have a glass of wine in the pagoda at sunset; bring or buy some cheap chairs for the beach and remember that the park fee gives you access for 24 hours. Hope to return!

Jason and Victoria have really outdone themselves with this gorgeous 3 bedroom open air home. We stayed with them last year in their 2 bedroom apartment, and had a lovely time. This 3 bedroom was on a whole new level. It has its own pool, full outdoor kitchen, gorgeous spacious bathrooms (and an outdoor tub), and tons of open seating area, all with a view of the ocean. We saw amazing sunsets, monkeys almost everyday, and even a sloth hanging out in the trees nearby. As always, J&V are great hosts, and while you get extreme privacy here, you can always just walk up to their main home if you need anything. Despite everything being outdoors, there really aren't ANY bugs, and we would absolutely recommend this to anyone interested in staying somewhere affordable, luxurious, easy to access, and most of all, gorgeous on the Costa Ballena.

The description was accurate but understated. I loved the bathrooms and the general decor Upon our arrival we found fresh fruit and the refrigerator stocked with eggs, coffee, beer, and all essentials to get you started. We walked the trail behind the house and the tropical plants were amazing. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and well maintained. They responded quickly and the booking was very easy from start to finish. Jason and Victoria were very helpful and recommend restaurants and local activitities. I even tried Victoria's favorite, basil parm wings at Jolly Rodgers. One morning about 20 howler monkeys visited us outside the kitchen window. One of the females was carrying her baby on here back. We walked up the hill to the hotel and restaurant and saw a tree loaded with toucans. This was a very tranquil place to stay. Thank you Jason and Victoria.

We were so happy to have chosen to stay with the Hughes again. Their service is just great: friendly, helpful, clean and spacious rooms, nice fruit, enough parking, wonderful new swimming pool just for us!, beautiful construction details and a superb garden. This is what the Hughes offer in their lovely paradise corner. Nature does its part too: tucans, parrots, sloths, monkeys, and an uncountable number of other birds come every morning and evening to their private forest...quite spectacular. Views from the terrace to the magnificient Pacific Ocean which is just 5 minutes away by car. Their location is great as you have privacy.. you are practically in the forest but with the convenience that all you need is just at hand reach. Uvita itself is a wonder on Earth. We have always seen dolphins and whales on our trips there...you may call it luck! The beaches are really nice: sand, palm trees...no horrible tall buildings at the shore! this place is still what my beautiful country used to be like 20 or 30 years ago...nature at its best! Hope you can enjoy it and take care of it when you visit it...it is worth a visit!

We loved our stay at this house. This place is perfect for a small group of friends. We went with a baby and the hosts made everything to make us feel safe and at home. The view, the jungle, the monkeys, the peace that it feels there, the design and furnitures of the house, everything was just perfect. And the hosts were very helpful, friendly and respectful. This villa is absolutely amazing. It definitely surpassed my expectations. There was five of us who stayed and the three different villas were perfect for us. We mostly hung out in the common area. We walked through the path that was personally laid out by one of the owners, Jason. Some days we almost only wanted to hang out in just the villa! Victoria and Jason are amazing hosts. They keep to themselves but are always available if you need to ask questions. They let us use their large outdoor kitchen one night and we were able to use their infinity pool at our leisure. Victoria amazed me when she took my wish for making my boyfriends birthday special from the moment we arrived. She and I talked about a birthday sign and amenities to be there when we arrived and she went above and beyond. It was perfect :) Jason was in the middle of building a pool in the private villa when we were there. I 100% want to book another week once that's finished. I would recommend this vacation rental to anyone!! Family getaway, friends getaway or romantic getaway. Not only is the property stunning but the hosts make for an unforgettable experience!!!
